Avoiding Antibiotics

So, along our journey here we have discussed how antibiotics play a role in poor health, yeast for example is what we most recently went over. You can catch that blog from a few months ago to refresh yourself or read for the first time. As a integrative practitioner I can tell you there is a reason for antibiotics, they have their time and place. Unfortunately, their time and place is too often in the wrong hands. Once we get children healthy again, having addressed the dysbiosis and inflammation its imperative we refrain from using antibiotics if at all possible. In asking you to consider an alternative I want to give you some options.

Strep:

In the case of strep I suggest a shot at the doctors office instead of an oral antibiotic. It will be very effective and quick acting but keeps us from the longer damage to the system as compared to a 7-10 day oral antibiotic.

Ear Infection:

I use the wait and see method all while treating at home. I am in love with the eardrops you can get from the health store. You will want to make sure you buy one with the most garlic content; garlic is a natural antibiotic and soothes the ear. These drops are very soothing and used early together with an adjustment from your chiropractor can increase lymphatic drainage and rid the ear infection. You will want to use these drops several times a day and make sure the liquid stays on the membrane itself, this means have them lie down and drop 3-5 drops in the ear and let it sit inside for 15 min if possible, then switch sides and repeat. IF you put the drops in and stick a cotton ball in it then the liquid gets in the cotton and not on the tympanic membrane.

In all cases make sure to use probiotics recommended by your doctor. The probiotics used may vary and larger dosages need to be used. Many times the probiotic you buy off the shelf has ΒΌ of the potency ordered by your doctor. You will also want to make sure to give the probiotic 4 hours apart from the antibiotic and keep giving for at least 60 days after antibiotic is complete.

I hope this helps a bit now and in the future.
